The 3rd Annual Confetti Wedding Awards, presented by Paramount Creative, took over the Hilton Glasgow on January 28th 2018 with 500 guests coming together to celebrate the best of Scotland’s hotel industry.

The Confetti Wedding Awards, Scotland’s most transparent wedding industry awards, received over 90,000 votes from the public to whittle down over 1000 competitors to just 160 finalists. All the finalists from across the industry were invited to don their glad rags for the 3rd annual Confetti Gala Final at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow.

The sparkling Gala Final was a big celebration from start to finish; a sparkling drinks reception, sumptuous three course meal and the presentation of the coveted trophies to their deserving winners The night was punctuated by musical treats from F3 Entertainments with Kimberley Stewart ‘A Tribute to Adele’, Jamie King Swing Thing, Kim is Pink and Could It Be Take That with the dancefloor filled by 9pm!

Capital FM presenter and funny-man, Des Clarke returned to host the evening and joined by representatives from Confetti sponsors and supporters handed out the night’s awards along with treats from Confetti sponsor, Fake Bake.

2018 saw Confetti develop a new judging system. All finalists submitted Phase 1 judging information that asked business owners to take stock of their achievement and demonstrate their merit to win the category. Phase 2 judging saw independent judges and mystery shoppers touring the country visiting the best of Scotland’s wedding businesses; venues were inspected, customer service scrutinised and staff quizzed in the search to find the best of the best.

Phase 2 judging for many of the categories involved a practical. On the 16th January 2018, Confetti took over the Fake Bake Beauty Studios for the annual live Hair and Make-Up practical. The nation’s favourite beauty talents were invited to demonstrate their skill and flair to impress our specialist judges. Pamela Docherty and Jennifer Peffer of Asteria Bridal Hair and Beauty were responsible for these tough decisions and Sunday saw them award Confetti 2018 Hairdresser of the Year to Bianca Coll Hairdressing and Confetti 2018 Make Up Artist of the Year to Jacqui Harrow MUA.

The first of its kind, the 23rd January saw the Confetti Awards take over the Crowne Plaza Hotel Glasgow for The Confetti Showcase. Here cakes were sampled, catering taste-tested and finalists in the categories of Ceremony Entertainer and Reception Entertainer were given the chance to perform. Venue accessory suppliers, florists, personal accessory suppliers and stationers provided displays to showcase their work for members of the judging panel. Across the board the high standard was praised; Trudi Todd Flowers snapped up Florist of the Year, Light Up Your Venue were crowned Venue Accessory Supplier of the Year and Ceremony Entertainer of the Year went to Sarah MacNeil, Harpist.

Tables jumped to their feet as Bespoke Catering and Events snapped up the Confetti award for Caterer of the Year for the third year and the team were in high spirits as they chatted to Confetti vlogger Megan Mcrory at the sponsors board. Des invited to the stage Miss Scotland, Romy McCahill and she opened the gold envelope to reveal Wedding Wise as the Confetti Wedding Dress Retailer of the Year.

The winning didn’t stop there; with thanks to Barrhead Travel and Moon Palace one lucky guest won the Big Impact Prize Draw. Over £4,000 was raised to support charitable projects in Scotland and the lucky winner, Elizabeth will be jetting off for a 7-night all-inclusive stay at the Moon Palace Jamaica!

Warren Paul, CEO and Founder of the Confetti Wedding Awards, thanked the room for their engagement in the 3rd annual awards; ‘It has been fantastic to see the enthusiasm for our new two-phase judging scheme. We pride ourselves on a transparent competition that allows brides and grooms to show their support and businesses to showcase the best of their work. The Gala Final has seen deserved winners receive awards, a great start to the year, but more importantly it has been a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the fantastic work of all within the Scottish wedding industry. Thank you to all of our entrants, sponsors and supporters for the biggest Confetti yet. Here’s to Confetti 2019!’
